How I got Started:

About 23 years ago, my husband and I decided to put our three girls in Oakland Christian School, a private school in Auburn Hills. In order to meet the financial expenses, I needed to earn some extra monies. Having been a stay at home mom since my second child was born, I decided to offer myself to a couple of neighborhood families and watch their children while they worked. I wasn't sure that I wanted to do the "diaper and potty training thing" again, so I committed to these families on a trial basis for the summer. It only took one day, as the first little 11 month old wrapped her arms around my neck, to know that I chose the right path for myself!

Twenty three years later and I am still here! This is my 23rd year in Rochester, MI and I look forward to more years of loving each little new student who enters one of my programs.

I have two married children and five grandchildren. The youngest is part of my program now. I had the privlege of teaching my other other four grandchildren as well and they were all reading before they entered Kindergarten. All four are attending Oakland Christian School where my daughter currently teaches. One of my greatest joys is being able to help every student reach that level.

My husband and I have been married for over 40 years. I feel so blessed to have a husband who loves me and supports what I do by allowing me to open up our home to so many families. "Mr. Chuck" (as we call him) enjoys seeing the children before he goes to work and after he returns, many times returning early so he can spend a little extra time with them.

Evie's Philosophy:

I offer a "home away from home" environment, where parents can feel comfortable about leaving their little ones. Many families want a warm, stimulating and educational environment for their children without having to put them in a large commercial day care. As a Christian teacher, your child will be treated as a part of my extended family, where I will try to develop an awareness of Christian attitudes and principles. Your child will have the opportunity to grow, learn and develop at their own pace in a warm, friendly environment geared just for them. I desire to expose your child to a wide variety of experiences in order to arouse their curiosity, challenge their physical and intellectual abilities and provide an opportunity to develop a healthy self-esteem and self-control. It is my goal that, as a result of these experiences, they may gain a love for learning and for the world around them.
